Hello, and welcome to my practice. I’m glad that you’ve found me online or as a referral from a friend, physician or trusted advisor. My office is located in Sarasota, Florida and is a sunny oasis for your healing journey. Whether you choose to work with me therapeutically as my therapy client or as a coaching client, I am here to help guide and support you.

MSW, LCSW, CSAT, SEP
“Whatever path you are on at the moment can be made brighter knowing that a trained and caring professional is here to guide you through challenging times in life. My mission is to walk beside you as you embrace changes in life and move towards hope, healing, and happiness.”

About Laura
Each individual has a purpose, a calling, and a story, myself included. I can tell you that my personal life experiences and healing journey have led me to where I am today. My work is my calling, my mission, my passion, and my witness to the world that lives can be changed when you provide the right amount of support, belief and care to help them. My resume includes a skill set that helps me sit with another human being and hold space for them in a sacred way that fosters connection, coregulation, and a greater sense of purpose on their healing journey. I continue to do my own work in therapy and self help and will continue to do so as long as I have the capacity as I believe any professional in this area should. We have a duty as professionals to continue growing on our journey. We help our clients navigate challenges in life and can be the light for others, walking alongside them on their paths.
I’ve worked extensively with trauma survivors, specifically those with sexual and developmental trauma. No trauma history? I also work with individuals in a holistic fashion, and I consult with Functional Wellness and a multidisciplinary team when it’s beneficial for my clients. Going through a divorce, navigating a difficult marriage, dealing with grief and loss, feeling on edge, medical symptoms that are vague and won’t go away? I can help you feel, process, and maybe even help alleviate some of your medical concerns.

Laura's Professional Background
Initially, I pursued a degree in Public Relations and later an advanced degree to allow me to practice Psychotherapy. Along the way, I wanted to help my clients heal at a deeper level and became trained and certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) in the internationally recognized Trauma Institute Program. I work with clients through Somatic Experiencing (SE) to help clients learn to listen to body sensations as well as to renegotiate trauma in their bodies in a safe and gentle way.
Prior to and simultaneous to opening my practice in Florida, I started, own and work in my private practice in Indiana. Past work has included both non-profit and for-profit agencies. I was an Adjunct Professor at the local university, was employed as a Psychotherapist in two private practices before starting my own practices and worked at a local hospital in order to help create and advance the Internal and External Child Abuse Task Force teams. I’ve worked in a local school setting and in a domestic violence center.
I served as the past President for The Education Committee for the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Commission on Sexual and Domestic Violence and continue to be a passionate advocate for macro level change. Along with many others, I testified successfully for the passage of Indiana House Bill 1175 in addition to advocating for the extension of the statute of limitations on sex crimes, something that was incredibly humbling for me. I’ve testified at numerous judiciary committee hearings in Indiana and am a facilitator for the Darkness to Light sexual abuse prevention program. I was also involved in creating the initial mission statement of a local child advocacy center in Indiana and am a public speaker and author.
So, what do I do in my free time? Like many people, I enjoy spending time in nature, walking, going to the beach, volunteering and spending time with family and friends. My love for old buildings and historic preservation led to a board member position at The Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse. I am also a former board member and current financial contributor of The Reitz Home Museum and a prior board member of The Parenting Time Center.
Please contact me today to see how I can help you on your journey. So, I’m curious. What’s your story?

FAQ
-
Can I do coaching with Laura after doing therapy with her?
Unfortunately, ethical guidelines prevent me from working with you in a coaching role after therapy with me. However, coaching clients can move into therapy sessions with me if this is needed.
-
Do you accept health insurance for coaching?
Coaching and consulting are not covered by health insurance.
-
I’m concerned about notes that are kept about my goals or anything that we’ve discussed.
One major difference between coaching and therapy is that NO NOTES ARE KEPT on you in coaching. We focus our time together on current goals and outcomes, and it is up to you to keep notes in order to fully get the most out of our time together. I want to EMPOWER YOU to make lasting changes!
